Brucella Rev 1 is a live attenuated vaccine used for sheep and goats to prevent brucellosis caused by Brucella melitensis. This disease leads to abortions in small ruminants and poses a significant zoonotic risk to humans (Malta fever).

The vaccine uses a weakened B. melitensis strain, given as a subcutaneous injection to young lambs and kids, to induce strong immunity. Crucially, it is pathogenic to humans, requiring extreme care during handling. It must not be given to pregnant animals (risk of abortion) and can cause diagnostic interference.
