    Bru-Tect Rev 1 is a live attenuated vaccine for sheep and goats, produced by Design Biologix in South Africa. It primarily prevents brucellosis caused by Brucella melitensis, a disease leading to abortions and a significant zoonotic risk (Malta fever) for humans.

    Uniquely, it also provides prophylactic immunization against Brucella ovis infection (causing epididymitis/infertility) specifically in ovine ram lambs. It's given as a single 2mL subcutaneous injection to young animals (2-4 months). Strict safety precautions are vital as it's pathogenic to humans. It must not be used in pregnant animals due to abortion risk, and has a 21-day meat withdrawal.
